Further, researchers have observed increased erectile function and increased penile blood flow after weeks of treating rats with icariin. Icariin is the main active compound in horny goat weed.

Icariin has been shown in studies to inhibit an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-5. In erectile dysfunction, phosphodiesterase-5 interferes with blood flow to the penis that is needed for an erection. It does this by interfering with nitric oxide and cGMP. Phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors like Viagra are commonly used to treat erectile dysfunction.

Sperm

A 2015 rodent study found several effects of Cistanche on sperm:

1. Increased sperm count 2.3 to 2.7-fold
2. Increased sperm motility 1.3 to 1.4-fold
3. Decreased abnormal sperm 0.76 to 0.6-fold

Two further scientific studies of Cistanche in rats have observed increased blood concentrations of luteinizing hormone. In men, luteinizing hormone stimulates Leydig cells in the testes to produce testosterone. This acts to support sperm production.

How to use

DOSAGE
